Each year the restaurant industry waits with great anticipation for the naming of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, released by Restaurant Magazine.
It is exciting to see the new restaurants on the list, as well as where the most well known chefs and restaurants throughout the world rank.
‘Noma’ in Copenhagen retained the top spot in 2012 for the 3rd year in a row thanks to its innovative, inventive and groundbreaking approach to cooking. It is a restaurant where passion and honesty is evident in every mouthful.
‘Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’ in London entered the list for the first time at number 9 with food that delivers big flavours and textures in modernised historical British recipes. We like the sound of A made dish of Parmesan which consists of Quail’s egg, smoked cauliflowers, horseradish and caraway. Heston’s ‘The Fat Duck’ restaurant also appeared on the list, at number 13.
Australian restaurant ‘Quay’ was crowned number 29 on the list, and took out the award for the Best Restaurant in Australasia. Head chef, Peter Gilmore describes the cuisine as “food inspired by nature” and his creative and original style of cooking has won him an unprecedented number of Australian and international awards.
